June Alumni Spotlight - Michael Logerwell (2015-2018)

1) Tell us about your recruiting experience and offer any advice to players also pursuing collegiate baseball.

In my recruiting experience I went to 5 camps/showcases—Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, University of Missouri, George Washington University in Washington D.C,  a showcase in Long Island New York and a local showcase—and visited multiple campuses. I started my recruiting process the summer before my junior year of high school by signing up for NCSA and that Winter I went to 2 camps, then the others that summer. If I had to give any advice it would be to start early and to consistently contact college coaches, also to join a recruiting service like NCSA because I didn’t know about Emerson College until I found it on NCSA, and it helped me learn more about Emerson and make it easier to contact their coach.

2) Describe your experience playing IMPACT and how it has had an effect on you as a player and/or a person.

In my experience with IMPACT I have become a much better ball player all around and a better person. In regard to basebal, IMPACT has helped me with my hitting, pitching, and defensive ability in the outfield, but most importantly it has helped me learn to hustle and to take pitches when they are thrown at me. This and things like Hustle, Attitude, and Toughness will not only help me with baseball, but will transcend that into my everyday life.

3) Describe your aspirations for your freshman year both academically and athletically.

My goals for my freshman year at Emerson are to get acclimated with the Boston area while maintaining a 3.5 GPA, or higher. On the baseball field, I will be working to try to get some playing time as a freshman because of the lack of outfield depth at Emerson.
