College Commitment Announcement - Phil Brennaman (2018-2020)

1) What was the recruiting process like for you?  What did you do that you found to be beneficial in getting yourself the opportunity to play beyond high school?  Do you have any recommendations for current and future players at IMPACT?

The recruiting process was way different than I anticipated. The most beneficial factor to me was to go to specific camps of schools you are interested in and get to know the coaching staff and players if possible. What got me the opportunity to play beyond high school is the attitude of always working towards your goals and seeing the end goal, working day in and day out including the off-season. My one biggest piece of advice is to get your name out there early, whether it be going to showcases or emailing coaches. Do it as soon as possible.

2) Why did you choose to play for IMPACT?  How has your experience with IMPACT shaped you as a baseball player and as a person?

My reasoning behind playing for Impact was shaped by two factors, playing to make it to the next level, and discovering another reason to play the game. The season before I came to Impact was one to remember, having a great record and amazing talent. My second factor was to see a side of myself I had never seen. I was intrigued by the atmosphere I had heard from many friends and knew I had to be apart of it.

3) What are your educational and athletic plans/goals for your collegiate career at the school you will be attending?

My academic goals at Northwest are to major in education with a minor in coaching, and hopefully come back to the northland and teach and coach baseball. My athletic goal is to work more than I ever have and create a career in which is enough to get recognition and possibly get drafted, whether it be the last pick of the 40th round, in the MLB draft.
